Multiplayer & GPS problem

Post by Basti_793 »

Hi guys,
I love real flight characteristics, but the 100% realism doesn't work online. That's pity.

Is this real engine control soon available for the multiplayer?

The Bf 108 in real life does not have an autopilot, but it's built into the IFR flight model a NAV / GPS switch. This switch has encouraged me yesterday to load a flight plan into the GPS. However, I could not enjoy lazy the scenery. The flight plan was simply ignored.

Will this switch work in the future? I would be able to use it. ;)
So long...
Uwe

Hi Basti,

first, appologies for the slow response!
Unfortunately, the engine damage stuff does not work in multyplayer as it uses mostly local variables.
As you rightly state, the autopilot is just a "keep heading and altitude" pilot, because the real plane does not have one anyway.
It's just ment as a secret feature. :-)
The GPS switch puts the flight plan coordinates (heading deviation and distance to station) on the AFN-2 radio beacon, it's not related to the autopilot.

No problem Mathias,
but then the GPS is a misleading name. OFF is maybe better?

However, the distance indicator works incorrect. He shows regardless
of the distance to the target (VOR/DME with distance data) always the
"nahe" value. Any ideas?
So long...

Uwe, can you give me the station so that I can check it? Thanks!

I can give you one, that i had on my flight to EDFM. It was only a LOC so maybe that was the reason and it showed not "nah", it showed something above the middle all the time. (The left/right needle worked)

Stationname: IMAW
Freq.: 108.55

For example EDDT... ;)

VOR/DME 112.30 MHz, TGL | Range: 195 nm / 360 km
ILS 26R: 110.10 MHz, ITLW | Range: 27 nm / 50 km
ILS 08L: 109.10 MHz, ITLE | Range: 27 nm / 50 km
So long...

VOR/DME at TGL works on my end.
The ILS only sends glideslope and path but no distance info.
Marker beacons work, too.
If you have VOR/DME on Nav1 and ILS on NAV2 with the Nav switch on Nav2 you should see both distance to VOR station and the ILS path on the AFN-2.
Keep in mind, the distance reading is from bottom to top 60nm so it's a pretty narrow reading close to approach.
Also not every VOR station sends a DME signal.

Oh, didnt know that, cool feature. Maybe you should update the manual with this fact.

Thanks for the virtual flowers Mathias... ;)

What surprised me though is that the distance indicator will not function properly. This needle works just like a conventional radio compass. Right?

The needle should move from the top to the point in the middle (overflight) and with decreasing distance from the DEM to the lower end of the scale. The DME sends distance informations and frequency changes with checks on other airfields doesn't help.

My values for EDDT: NAV1 = 112.30 MHz; NAV2 = 110.10 MHz or 109.10 MHz (depending on the approach direction); NAV1/NAV2 switch set to NAV2; AFN/OFF (NAV/GPS) switch set to AFN (NAV)

What I'm doing wrong?
