That makes sense since the elevator trim simply changes the pitch of the whole elevator instead of a small trim tab. The old Piper Comanche had a very strange trim location...it was a horizontal window roller style crank on the cabin ceiling. It has been so long now I can't remember which direction was which but I always had to glance at it before I adjusted the trim to make sure I was going to roll it the right direction. And it usually required full trim up on final approach.
