Manual startup is impossible...

Post by saguagirl »

I'm using early and late variants...
I tried manual startup following procedure, and succeded in early variants.
But I can't engine startup in late variants.

After auto startup(press ctrl+E) and shut down, I can manual startup.
But after loading saved files, manual startup is not working..
(fuel valve lever is always in open position after load saved files)

I followed all procedure(from fs knee board) exactly.
But although press ignition handle, engine is working only 2-3 seconds and not start.

What is wrong?
I want to do the manual engine startup in late variants.
Help me..

Welcome saguagirl,

most of the time it's the number of primer strokes (rear left console) that causes an engine not to start.
It depends on outside temperature and climate.
Begin with 7 strokes and see if the engine catches.
If not give one or two more strokes and try to start the engine again.
If you over-prime the engine it becomes a job for the groundcrew (reload aircraft).

Hi all, i know this post is a old one but i seam to have the same problem as saguagirl.

I just wondering if it could have anything to do with the battery? and not the primer? how long dose it take to drain the battery if idling with it on?

Unlikely. When all systems are off the plane can stand on the ground forever.
Did you pull the yellow lever on the left cockpit wall?
And what plane is it exactly? All or just a certain sub variant?
Just Fly or Full Real mode?

Dark_P, regarding the airspeed, sounds like gear and flaps are down or pitot heat is off in cold weather.
I'll look into the startup thing. Not sure yet what's going on but if there's something beyond pilot error we'll find it.
Stay tuned!

Hi again Dark_P,

I've been able to doublicate the startup issue to a certain extend, but only if I boot from a cold and dark flight that uses another third party aircraft.
Having said that it's best to load the default Trike Friday Harbor flight, make your settings and selections from there, turn down all systems and save as a new flight.
Little reminder: 10 primer strokes should get you started in most weather conditions.

I followed your guide Mathias and it is working now, looks like my trouble had to do with a other third party aircrafts

Thank you :)
